The engineer I provides technical work in the planning, designing, procurement and construction of additions, changes or maintenance to MidAmerican Energy Company's generating units. Assignments to the engineer I are based on the skills and expected knowledge of an entry-level engineer. The engineer I will also provide assistance to more senior level engineers on higher-level projects.
The engineer II provides technical work in the planning, designing, procurement and construction of additions, changes or maintenance to MidAmerican Energy Company's generating units.
The engineer II may participate in the direction of work for engineer I, drafting technicians, contractors and craft personnel. The engineer II may also provide assistance to senior engineers and principal engineers on higher-level projects.
The senior engineer provides technical work and directs others in technical work in the planning, designing, procurement and construction of additions, changes or maintenance to MidAmerican Energy Company's generating units. The senior engineer may participate in the direction of work for the engineer II, engineer I, drafting technicians, contractors and craft personnel. The senior engineer will also provide assistance to managers and principal engineers on higher-level projects.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions or maintenance to MidAmerican Energy Company's generation system.
Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections.
Conduct engineering studies and investigations and prepare oral and written reports.
Provide engineering assistance to other departments.
Attend training in designated areas.
Provide technical leadership to staff.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
The engineer II position requires one to three years of engineering experience.
The senior engineer position requires five years of industry experience as a practicing engineer, and must be a licensed PE. If no PE license then must have eight or more years as a practicing engineer.
High level of technical knowledge, judgment and capability in the engineering discipline.
Effective communicator with technical and managerial personnel within and external to MidAmerican Energy Company.
Broad analytical skills.

Effective oral and written communication skills.
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
