This position will be in the Sioux City, IA Vet Center. The employee reports to the Team Leader of the Vet Center. As a Social Worker_,_you are responsible for the following main duties to include, but not limited to:
Assessing and treating the enrolled Veterans.
Interviews and conducts psycho-social assessments.
Incumbent also provides consultation to referral sources and is responsible for development and maintenance of professional standards of practice and educating others regarding such.
Responsible for development of the treatment plan and setting achievable treatment goals.
Using known available resources and the initial assessment of the veteran, responsible for using the current social work resource file of the Vet Center and community social service programs and enhancing the content to the benefit of veterans.
The social worker is responsible for educating the Veteran and families/significant others of the available services.
The Social Worker will refer the Veteran to needed services.
Act as an advocate when it serves the best interest of the Veteran and family members/significant others.
Responsible for making rapid assessments and developing crisis management plans.

Provide the Veterans and their caregivers with ongoing supportive counseling.

Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically day hours Monday-Friday. numerous irregular tours, weekends, holidays, evenings and weekends will also be required. English Language Proficiency: Social workers must be proficient in spoken and written English.

Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work _may not_ be substituted for the master''s degree in social work.
